Australia Bushfire Tragedy

Bushfire affected Koala - Pic by Russell Vickery

Please spare a thought for all the Bushfire victims, who have lost loved ones and their homes in the raging bushfire's in Victoria over the weekend. So far a confirmed 182 people have lost their lives, and an estimated 10,000 bush animals have perished, and thousands more livestock. If you happen to be a rather well off person, please consider donating to the red cross bushfire appeal, or to the Victorian RSPCA, who are working around the clock to help affected animals.

That is terrible. And that picture makes me so sad. Could you imagine having your home burn down? That is one of the worst things ever. All of your priceless family things... I live in a very dry place and there are fires every summer and they get really bad. Some go for weeks.. fires are so scary. I hope those people are ok and the animals too...

Oh... I feel so sorry for those animals. A week ago, I received an email about a very thristy Koala because of the hot weather. Hopefully the weather in Australia is getting cooler soon.

I actually posted this exact thing on a dog forum I belong to. The koala's name is Sam, and she is just a baby :(. She has burned paws, but is getting help. Have you now seen the video of it too? Just amazing.

Yeah the video is amazing. She has become somewhat an iconic survivor story for Australia now. Out of all the horrible pictures on the news, this picture moved me the most, I cannot stand to see animals hurt. Not one bit.
