Ah, the beautiful rain, we have missed it so much! We have had two solid days of rain now and the garden looks greener already! Unfortunately I have spent the last few days very unwell with a cold, I have been through lots of tissues, cups of tea, and cough lozenges. Today I finally stopped sounding like a man, and am feeling a little better.
I find when I am sick, I get really bored very quickly, there is only so much daytime television I can take, and so I did some sewing to keep me occupied. My dear friend Jess (We call her Hillness) had her Birthday yesterday, so I made her a colourful Birthday gift:
Hillness loves birds, so I designed a love bird tote bag for her, she also recently moved out of home, hence the coasters, and she works night shifts, so I made her a sleep mask to help block that pesky daytime light out!

Today is ANZAC day. It is a day where Australians and New Zealanders stop to remember the men and women who fought during past wars. It is a spiritual and solemn commemoration day. I made some ANZAC biscuits for the day, using the recipe from the 'Exclusively Food' blog. I added about 1/3 of a cup of chopped pecans. They are nice biscuits for a cold windy rainy Autumn day, and they go beautifully with a cup of T Bar's Australian black tea!

I'm just recovering from a cold - so I feel your pain! But hasn't the rain been awesome - my lawn is no longer dying!! Yay!

Oh you paw thing! My parents have both been sick too. Mum's a nurse (have I mentioned that) and she picked it up from work, then passed it on to Dad. I don't know why, but I didn't/haven't caught it yet. They've both had flue shots, I haven't. lol, weird!

Also, the bag is FANTASTIC!!! Would a closeup be too much to ask, or have you given it to Hillness already?
Anzac biscuits are beautiful! I knew you might be one of those to blog about them! lol Maybe you should try an ANZAC CUPCAKE recipe and decorate them with little Aussie flags or something. lol

I had my share of ANZAC biscuits while in Sydney and I didn't ever much care for them until a friend made a batch of them - they were so good! I got the recipe from her but when I tried it myself it just didn't work out. :( I need to find that recipe and try it out again!
